Glacier Hiking only a short distance from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Trip difficulty ranges from 2-3 out of 5 possible.
Our world-renowned “Glacier Explorer” half-day option takes you to Vatnajökull Glacier’s best-kept secret; the Fjallsjökull glacier and the magnificent glacier lagoon it crashes into. We will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Glacier Guide-Fjallsjökull sign on the Ring Road.
After a walk along the magnificent shores of this seldom visited lagoon, we will arrive at the Fjallsjökull glacier where we gear up on crampons. With your guide leading the way you will soon be exploring the dramatic terrain, walking through a wonderland of towering pinnacles and brilliantly blue ice.
You will enjoy vast, sweeping, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the amazing crevasse system as well as the steep ice fall high up on the glacier. The trip will provide you with plenty of photo opportunities and the chance to gain a deep understanding of this magnificent glacier, how it is formed and how it continues to change shape every day.
A visit to Fjallsjökull will certainly be one of your most memorable experiences while in Iceland...just check out the pictures!
