Glacier Hiking from Skaftafell
Trip difficulty ranges from 2-3 out of 5 possible.
Are you looking for an opportunity to go a little further and really explore the glacier? This trip will take you into one of the most impressive icefalls coming from the Vatnajökull ice cap. The Falljökull (Falling Glacier) outlet glacier is a unique and beautiful environment, both rugged and raw with stunning blue ice and ever changing ice formations. We will walk on the glacier making our way into the icefall to explore the spectacular surroundings. To get to some of the harder to reach areas and for added adventure we may do some ice climbing or abseiling. We will provide you with all the tools you need: ice axes, harness, helmet, crampons and ropes as well as teaching you the basic techniques of ice climbing so that you can make your way up the ice.
If you are looking for an adventure that allows you to truly experience the ice then this is the trip for you.
